Charity/Holiday Game
Monday 24th September – Results

The final Holiday game of the season took place this week and was combined as a ‘Charity’ game.
The weather held up for most of the day and results were as follows

Winning team – E. Charlton, E. Marshall & G. Shanks (skip)
Runners Up – J. Devlin, E. Creaney & R. Thomson (skip)
Spider Winner – W. Miller
Single Bowl Winner – R. Thomson
Single Bowl – Runner Up – E. Creaney

A fantastic £546 was raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity (including a generous donation of £200 from the Entertainment fund).

Many thanks to everyone who contributed and thanks to Senior Gents Committee who do a great job organising these popular Holiday Games.

Bowling  Prizegving Events


The Senior Gents held their prizegiving event on Tuesday 25th September.

The Ladies Section held their Prizegiving event on Thursday, 27th September with 40 ladies attending.

The Gents Section will hold their Prizegiving on Saturday 29th September at 7pm
The end of season Dance will follow and more information about this is in the Social News Section.

 

Ladies Past Presidents Event – 15th September 2018

The Ladies Section held this annual event recently,  attended by several Past Lady Presidents. There was a fun game of bowls (in a 3-2-1 format which caused great hilarity at times!) then everyone then sat down to enjoy a lovely salad meal prepared by the Ladies Committee.

The game was won by Betty Jarvie, Moira Waddell and Mary Stirrat.

           Ladies September Invitation Tournament 

  The Ladies Section held their September Invitation tournament on 5th September.  96 ladies from far and wide enjoyed great weather and bowling!
The winners were the team from Red Deer –
Cathie McCrorie, Jean Ferguson, Margaret Barlas and Mary McKie.

Runners up were Kilmacolm – Heather Arthur, Margaret Reagen, Rene Buchanan and Senga White.

Thanks to everyone who came and made it such a success and look forward to seeing you all again next year.

                            Shaw Cup Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the Shaw Cup who were recently presented

with their Trophies by President George Thomson.

Overall winner (finishing with the highest points) was

John Barclay.

And the Winning Team was

John McLean, Robert Stein and David French (skip)

Uddingston Team Win District 26 Pairs Trophy  

Many congratulations to Locky Maxwell and Alan McGuinn who were successful in winning this year’s District 26 Pairs Final against Udston on 14th August at Low Waters.

Match Secretary, Brian Leighton advised that the players fought bravely in atrocious conditions and the final score after 15 ends was 10-8.

Very well done and congratulations once again to both players on their success.

Seniors Invitation Mixed Fours – Wednesday 15th August

It was a full house of 96 players for this popular Invitation Game and despite a bad weather forecast, the rain stayed away!
Two Uddingston Teams reached the Semi Finals, but unfortunately were beaten in close matches by visiting teams from
Whitefield and Mount Vernon.
Results were as follows:-

Beaten Semi-finalists 1. Uddingston (R.Thomson, E. Thomson,J.Faskin & A.Ferguson).  2. Uddingston (E.Ewart, A.Ewart, A.Ford & J.Ford)

Runners Up – Mount Vernon (B.Berryman, E.Johnston,A.Boyd & G.McDougall.

Winners – Whitefield (M.Morris, B.Morris, J.Kelly & D.Kelly)

District 26 Top Ten Team reach semi-final!

Our District 26 Senior Gents Top 10 team were
unfortunately beaten in the semi final of this competition by Blantyre.
But very well done to the team for winning through 3 tough rounds to reach this stage in the competition!.

Nomination  Mixed Pairs – Results

32 players took part in the above competion (formerly Married Couples) which was held
on Sunday 12th August.
Despite the dreich morning, everyone enjoyed the day and going forward to play in the final during finals week will be
W. & M. Ballantyne
and
G. Shanks & E. Milligan. 

Robert Gordon Triples – Wednesday 1st August

24 Senior Gents competed in the above match and only one section of 8 teams played. 
Due to adverse weather conditions, it was decided that the final will be played at a later day in August.

Going forward to play in the final will be

Balloted Mixed Pairs – Results

The Balloted Mixed  Pairs Competition was held
on Sunday 29th July.

Mango Optical Holiday Game – Results

The third Holiday Game of the season, sponsored by Mango, took place on Sunday 15th July with 30 ladies & Gents playing.

      Senior Mel Aitchison Trophy – Results

The Senior Gents held their Mel Aitchison event on Wednesday 4th July.
30 players had a great day in blazing sunshine,  with results as follows –

Tunnocks Senior Invitation Tournament – Results

 


The Senior Gents held another very successful  Invitation Tournament, sponsored by Tunnocks, on Wednesday 6th June.  24 teams attending coupled with really glorious weather.  Results are as follows

Ladies May Invitiation Tournament

The ladies section held a very successful tournament on Wednesday 30th May.  96 ladies (a full house!) enjoyed a fantastc day’s bowling with clubs from all around the district taking part. 
The overall winners were the team from Mount Vernon (A. Henderson, M. Bar,  J.Fotheringham &  A.McKenzie (Skip).     Runners Up were their neighbours Garrowhill M.Scott, J.Foy, L. Tinney & I.Masheder (Skip).

Well done to both teams and to all the competitors. Look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Belhaven Holiday Game Results 

Our second Holiday Game of the season took place on Sunday 27th May, again in glorious sunshine.

Runners up  were – Brian Leighton (skip) Robert Barr, Jim Rhind/John Manderson.

Bellmatic Holiday Game Results 

Our first Holiday Game of the season took place on Monday 7th May in glorious sunshine.
There was a great turnout of 49 players who enjoyed an excellent days’ play. Our thanks to Lilian Johnston, Evelyn Rhind and Margaret Manderson who organised the food and to Steven McLaren in the bar.

The Senior Josh Winters Triples event took place on Wednesday 2nd May.

Ladies Section – First Day of Play – Tuesday 24th April

The Ladies Section enjoyed a very successful  afternoon  to kick off the  new bowling season.
There was a short game and then 75 Ladies and Guests including, Club President George Thomson, representatives from  our Gents, Seniors and Tennis Sections all sat down to enjoy an excellent meal.

The standard of ‘funny’ stories and  poems from our speakers was well above average this year!

Senior Gents First Day of Play  26th April

The Senior Gents Section held their first day of play of the new season on the above date.

30 ‘brave’ seniors managed to play a short game between the showers followed by a light meal.  Winners of the game were-

Important – First Aid Information

Please  be aware of the following changes

  • Kitchen First Aid Box –  there is a new box in the Kitchen (specifically for catering/kitchen users)
  •  General First Aid Box – there is a new general box  on the wall just outside the Office.
  • De-Fibrillator – this has been moved to a better location on the wall outside the Boardroom.
  • Several new First Aiders have recently been trained and appointed and Sandy Murray now has the lead role for First Aid in the Club.
  • Please familiarise yourself with the names of the First Aiders – see Members Only Section and there is a list of names  above the First Aid box outside the office.                   

Members Only area – New Password for 2018 
The password to access the ‘members only’ area on the website, has been changed for 2018.

You will find the new password printed on the back of your new membership card.
